Day trip from Florence to San Marino, a medieval gem on Mount Titano. Explore its historic streets, iconic towers, and enjoy stunning views. A journey of history, charm, and scenic beauty.

Departure from Florence is scheduled early in the morning at 8:00 AM. After approximately 2.5 hours of travel through the picturesque Italian landscape, you will arrive in San Marino, a small but fascinating independent Republic perched atop Mount Titano.

As you begin your walk uphill toward Porta San Francesco, the main entrance to the fortified city, you are immediately immersed in a timeless, medieval atmosphere. Here, you’ll meet your local guide who will lead you on a tour through the charming historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in culture, history, and breathtaking views.

One of the tour’s highlights is a visit to the Basilica of San Marino, the country's most important religious building, dedicated to Saint Marinus, the founder and patron saint of the Republic. Inside, you’ll find a neoclassical interior and the relics of the saint himself.

From there, you’ll continue on to Piazza della Libertà, the political heart of the Republic, where you’ll admire the impressive Palazzo Pubblico, seat of the San Marino government. If your timing is right, you may even witness the ceremonial changing of the guard.

The tour then ascends to the Guaita Fortress, also known as the First Tower, the oldest and most iconic of San Marino’s fortifications. If time permits, you’ll also visit the nearby Cesta Tower (Second Tower), located on the highest point of Mount Titano. Both towers offer spectacular panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding Apennine Mountains — a perfect photo opportunity.

In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy free time to wander the quaint alleys of the historic center, browse through local craft shops, sample traditional products, or simply relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this unique mountaintop republic.

Departure from San Marino is scheduled around 4:00 PM, with arrival back in Florence in the evening.
